Horseback Trips

Horseback is one of the best ways to the experience the beauty of the River of No Return Wilderness. These trips are guided and open to all experience levels. Investigate the remnants of settlements set up by 19th century explorers. Explore Native American pictographs, shelter pits, and hunting blinds. These excursions also offer the possibility of spotting local wildlife in their natural habitat.

Most of the following popular excursions are based at Middle Fork Lodge. Custom and overnight trips are available but space is limited. Please contact us for availability and pricing.

Horseback Tours:

Cameron Creek (12 miles round trip, full day ride) features an early settlement at Hood Ranch and beautiful Native American pictographs at Cameron Creek.

Jackass Flats (8 miles round trip, 1/2 to full day ride) featuring the historically restored Sater Cabin and the shelter pits of an ancient Native American village.

Marble Creek (about 3 miles round trip, 2-3 hour ride) featuring Fly-fishing, Native American pictograph, and beautiful scenery.

Mitchell Ranch (full day ride or an overnight stay at Mitchell Ranch) featuring excellent fly-fishing and bird watching.

Thomas Creek (1/2 to full day ride) features the Diversion Dam and breathtaking mountain views.
