The Middle Fork Lodge is located approximately 100 miles northeast of Boise. It is on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Salmon River and in the heart of Idaho’s famous 2.3 million acre River of No Return Wilderness Area.
Most guests access the Lodge by charter plane. A veteran back country pilot can fly you from Boise, Sun Valley, Stanley, McCall or Challis airport. Your flight time will be approximately one hour from Sun Valley and Boise and thirty minutes from Challis, Stanley, or McCall. You will land at the Thomas Creek Airstrip where our staff will meet you for a short drive to the Lodge. You can find a list of back-country charter companies on our wilderness links page and a flight map is below.
Boise and Sun Valley are serviced by major U.S. carriers and provide ready access for corporate aircraft. International guests from Pacific Rim countries should plan to enter the United States via either Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle, and then continue on to Boise.
We will assist you with your charter plane reservations when you book your stay. Charter planes to Thomas Creek Airstrip should be scheduled to coincide with our check-in (10:00 a.m.) and check-out (9:00 a.m.) times. We can also assist you in booking a hotel room in a departure city and will arrange the transfers from your hotel to the charter plane.
Middle Fork Lodge is also accessible through wilderness rafting trips. Wilderness rafting companies organize trips down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Multiple nights stays are available for rafters at the Lodge.
